Bahia De Los Angeles (L.A. Bay)

Bahía de los Ángeles translates to English as “Bay of Angels”. The bay is located along the eastern part of the Baja California Peninsula in the state of Baja California, Mexico. Bahía de los Ángeles faces towards the Sea of Cortez. The weather is generally warm for the most part of the year, however July and August are the hottest months of the year and can get very dry and hot. The first European to discover the Bahía de los Angeles was Francisco de Ulloa in 1539 during the last expedition financed by Hernán Cortés. A loading dock was later built In 1752 to explore Mission San Borja, as well as the full Baja California Peninsula. In the early 1900’s, Bahía de los Ángeles became a significant loading dock used mainly to export gold and silver obtained from the mines of San Juan, Sierra San Borja, and Santa Martha.
